How will I know when the waitlist is open?
-It will be on the City’s Website, social media and advertised locally.
How is the Waitlist determined?
-Names of applicants are entered into our propriety software, once all the applications have been submitted, correctly filled out, and the waitlist is closed. The software will generate a list of applicants’ names and where they appear on the waitlist. It is a lottery system. It is not “first come, first serve.”
How do I find out if I income qualify?
-HUD publishes income limits on a yearly basis in June.
-Shelton Housing Authority is for low-income households.
Can I own property and reside at Shelton Housing Authority?
-No, owning property typically makes applicants over income.
Do Veterans get priority?
-Yes, for efficiency-type apartments only, with proof.
